It is  present in wholegrain cereals, legumes (especially lentil and dried beans), dried nuts,  meat, bananas, mushrooms, apricots, grapes, etc.

Potassium deficiency can cause respiratory problems, cardiac arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat ), poor reflexes, dry skin, nervousness, insomnia.

It controls the activity of the heart muscle, the nervous system and the  kidneys.

It is necessary for the water balance in the body tissues, the muscle contraction, the secretion of gastric juice.

Coffee,  sugar,  alcohol,  diuretics,  laxatives, cortisone and stress reduce the absorption of potassium.

Sodium and vitamin B-6, on the other hand, increase the absorption of it.
