Iron


It's found in liver, eggs, meat, fish, green leafy vegetables, cocoa, wheat germ, cherries etc.

Iron deficiency results in anemia, depression, reduced memory and intellectual capacity, constipation, shortness of breath and brittle nails.

Iron is an essential element for the formation of new hemoglobin. It is also a component of many enzymes and proteins. It helps in the metabolism of proteins and growth. It is also needed for, teeth, skin and nails. It defends the body against diseases.


Iron absorption is reduced by excessive zinc, excessive phosphorus and coffee.

On the contrary copper, calcium, folic acid and vitamins C and B-12 can increase iron absorption.
